We at DPS Megacity believe that we have to help pupils learn to make good choices, since good choices produce good behavior. The ultimate goal of this discipline plan is to develop self discipline in pupils and to move away from external authority-imposed control.
Positive Behavior Management program rests on the belief that students are rational being capable of controlling their own behavior.
It is a stepladder process where the child is given remainders to understand reason for misdemeanor and counseled to change his behavior to socially acceptable manner. Principal, Headmistress, consultant psychologist, PBM Committee members and class teacher are all involved in comprehensive plan to help the child to develop self discipline. Initial reminders by mean of correctional slip (pink slips) are given to the students when he misbehaves, hurts someone else or break school rules. After the student has received 3 such correctional slips a letter from Principal is sent to the guardians of the students informing them and involving them to monitor and supervise the child.
Behavior Management Cards also refer red to, as Discipline Cards will be given for misdemeanors. The psychologist has designed logical consequences to misdemeanors that includes reflective writing, student teacher contracts, individual counseling, parental involvement etc. at a different stages.
On issue of 4th correctional slips child is made to sign a contract promising to improve himself. In case of repeated misdemeanor student can be suspended from the school from three to fifteen days. Further, in case of very severe offence gross violation of school code of conduct. The school authority reserves right to expel a student.
The process constantly motivates children to do their best, monitors them consistently and helps them realize and learn. The individuality of a child is nurtured, at the same time he is taught to choose wisely.
All student and their guardians are to co-operate and follow PBM procedure for developing a discipline environment in school. |
